Monrovia’s municipal code prohibits using accessory dwelling units (ADUs) or junior ADUs as short‑term rentals or renting them for fewer than 30 consecutive days. Although there is no general STR ordinance, a 12 % transient occupancy tax applies to stays under 30 days; this tax is owed by the transient and must be collected by the operator.
