420 Weekend and the Cannabis-Friendly Listing Question Most Hosts Dodge
The GnG Vacation Take
Cannabis policy is ownership policy. We help clients write rules that match their preferences and their insurance. What we refuse to do is pretend the question isn't there — silence is a policy decision guests make for you.

420 Weekend surfaces a question every SoCal host eventually has to answer in writing: is cannabis use allowed on the property? Silence reads as "yes" to some guests, "no" to others. Both interpretations create risk.

What to write in your house rules

  • If you don't allow indoor smoking of anything — say so explicitly. "No indoor smoking (including cannabis)." Clear, enforceable, fair.
  • If outdoor use is OK — say so with bounds. "Cannabis use permitted only on the back patio; please use the provided ashtray."
  • If you ban entirely — say so and link to local legal context. Some owners do, and it's a legitimate choice.

The review risk either way

Unclear rules produce mismatched expectations. Guests leave reviews. Reviews affect ranking. The five minutes it takes to write the rule pays back for months.
