Southern California Heat Warnings Continue Through October 8
The GnG Vacation Take
Check cooling before the next arrival and give guests one clear way to report a problem.

The National Weather Service's October 6 bulletins keep Extreme Heat Warnings in effect until 8 p.m. PDT on Thursday, October 8, 2026, for covered parts of Los Angeles and Ventura counties and inland Orange County. The Los Angeles/Oxnard bulletin warns of valley temperatures reaching 106°F (about 41°C).

For rental homes, the immediate priority is checking the cooling equipment provided and helping guests use it. NWS recommends spending time in air-conditioned locations and moving strenuous outdoor activity to the coolest part of the day.

Three checks before the next arrival

  • Test the provided cooling equipment. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for accessible maintenance checks and flag faults for qualified follow-up before guest handover.
  • Make operation and reporting simple. Put thermostat instructions and the property contact together in the guest guide, and review cooling-related messages during the warning.
  • Share current local information. Check the property's address forecast and identify nearby air-conditioned public locations after confirming opening hours.

Recheck each property's forecast as warnings are updated.
